The Bluegrass Pickathon musical fund raiser has now run for 3 consecutive years, bringing live bluegrass music to Bromsgrove High Street. Although the original format has changed to reduce the length of the event to 12 hours of non-stop music we still raised just over £1500 for the children's Burnaid charity.

The event was once again organised by Andrew Wuzik, a local guitar teacher and friend of the club. The event was dedicated to and in memory of Helen King, a tirless worker and trustee of the charity and an Honorary member of our club who was sadly taken from us a few weeks ago after a long illness.

In total, this event has now raised £4000 for Burnaid.

Original Event

To help celebrate the clubs 80th birthday Andrew Wuzik, a local guitar teacher and friend of the club, decided he would like to raise some money for the club. His madcap idea was to play a selection of stringed instruments (namely guitar, banjo, mandolin and double bass) for 24 hours straight with breaks only for the essentails ie food, toilet etc.

The event ran from 2pm on 28th June 2017 to 2pm on the 29th in Bromsgrove High Street, with the help of numerous musical friends who came along with instruments to support Andrew. Club member Tony Docherty stayed with Andrew for the whole 24 hours (but was only allowed to play instruments when the public weren't around). The event was a roaring success raising over £1700 which is to be donated to the children's Burnaid charity.
